Spring break 2027 runs Monday, March 29, to Friday, April 2, for both Murfreesboro school districts, and both close on Good Friday, March 26, as well. That gives most families a 10-day stretch from Friday, March 26, to Sunday, April 4. Easter Sunday falls in the middle, on March 28.

Murfreesboro City Schools also has no school for students on Thursday, March 11, for parent-teacher conferences, and Rutherford County Schools lists March 11 as a teacher day. More dates are on our schools page.

Camps

  • Campology at the Discovery Center, 502 SE Broad St.: hands-on science, technology, engineering, art and math day camps that run during school breaks, spring break included, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The spring 2027 camp had not been posted when we checked. For scale, the fall 2026 camp cost $275 for members and $300 for others, or $325 and $350 with extended care.
  • Murfreesboro Parks and Recreation posts its programs on its online registration site; the city had not listed a spring break camp for 2027 when we checked.

Things to do

  • Discovery Center at Murfree Spring: the children’s museum for ages 0 to 12 is open Tuesday to Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday, noon to 5 p.m. Admission is $15 for ages 1 and up. Adults are not admitted without a child. Next door, the 25-acre Murfree Spring Wetlands has paved trails and boardwalks.
  • Stones River National Battlefield, 3501 Old Nashville Highway: free, with trails and a visitor center. Call 615-893-9501 for hours.
  • Cannonsburgh Village, 312 S. Front St.: the city’s pioneer village, with free self-guided tours. It keeps winter hours through March (Tuesday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.) and from April opens Tuesday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., Saturday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Sunday, 1 to 4 p.m. Call 615-890-0355 first; it can close for private rentals.
  • The greenway and parks: 15 miles of greenway, Barfield Crescent Park’s trails and the Kids’ Castle playground at Old Fort Park. See our parks and trails guide and kids’ activities guide.
  • Swimming indoors: the Patterson Park indoor water park, 521 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., has a twisting slide and kids’ play feature year-round. Call 615-893-7439.

What’s open and closed

  • Boro Beach, the city’s outdoor pool at Sports*Com, 2310 Memorial Blvd., is closed until Memorial Day weekend.
  • Rutherford County offices close for Good Friday; the county listed Friday, April 3, as its Good Friday holiday in 2026. Check the county holiday list for 2027.
  • County convenience centers close on Easter Sunday.
  • City trash pickup does not change for Good Friday or Easter on the city’s 2026 holiday schedule.
