Wednesday: football, candy and costume contests

MTSU Athletics is letting children 12 and younger in free if they come in costume. The Blue Raiders play the Kennesaw State Owls at Floyd Stadium at 6 p.m. Families must claim the offer at the box office on game day, the university said.

Trick-or-treating runs on the concourse inside the stadium from 5 p.m. to the end of the first quarter. Blue Raider teams, campus partners and sponsors will hand out candy.

The evening also includes:

  • the Raider Walk at 3:30 p.m., then Party in the Grove with the band Edgehill at 4 p.m. in Walnut Grove
  • Halloween costume and poster-decorating contests; check in at any customer service table before the end of the first quarter to be eligible for prizes
  • a poster-making station on the concourse near Gate 3, or bring a poster from home
  • $2 hot dogs, popcorn, candy and sodas during the game
  • donation bins at every entrance gate for nonperishable food for Second Harvest Food Bank

Adult tickets are on sale through GoBlueRaiders.com.

Thursday: Trick or Treat on Greek Row

Trick or Treat on Greek Row runs from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday in front of the sorority houses at Rutherford Boulevard and Alumni Drive. Children 12 and younger can play games at the houses and collect candy.

The university asked families to park free in the lot across the street and use the nearby crosswalk. The MTSU Panhellenic Council sponsors the event with support from the campus sororities and fraternities.

What it means for you

  • Wednesday: bring the kids in costume to the Floyd Stadium box office for free entry, and arrive by 5 p.m. for the concourse candy. Adults need a ticket.
  • Thursday: Greek Row is free and needs no ticket. Park in the lot across from the sorority houses on Rutherford Boulevard.
  • Both nights bring extra traffic around the east side of campus, so allow extra time on Rutherford Boulevard and Blue Raider Drive.
