Memorial Day 2027 is Monday, May 31. Murfreesboro’s main observance is at Stones River National Cemetery, where volunteers place flags on more than 7,000 headstones, and the park runs a weekend of events around the holiday. The 2027 schedule had not been released when we checked; the 2026 program, below, shows the pattern.

Stones River National Cemetery
The National Park Service’s 2026 Memorial Day program ran over four days:

Visiting the cemetery
- Parking: park at the battlefield visitor center and cross Old Nashville Highway at the lit crosswalk. Parking inside the cemetery is for visitors with accessibility needs only.
- Decorations: the park allows only fresh-cut flowers, plus the flags placed by volunteers. It asks visitors not to leave coins on headstones, which can damage the historic stones and are a hazard during mowing.
- Getting there: the battlefield’s main entrance is at 1563 N. Thompson Lane. Call 615-893-9501.
The park’s news page posted the 2026 program on May 11 and the 2025 program on May 8, so look for 2027 details in early May.
Boro Beach opens
The city’s outdoor pool, Boro Beach at SportsCom, 2310 Memorial Blvd., reopens Memorial Day weekend 2027*. On Memorial Day 2026 the city held Memorial Day Madness at Boro Beach, 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with swimming, music and prizes for all ages.
