- Parking: free and first come, at The Fountains and in a grassy area directly across Medical Center Parkway.
- Not allowed on the site: pets, alcohol, cooking grills, and personal fireworks or sparklers.
- Where to watch: the city says the view is unobstructed up to a quarter to half a mile away; beyond that it depends on line of sight, trees and the weather.

Getting there
The Fountains at Gateway is at 1500 Medical Center Parkway, off I-24 at Exit 76 (Medical Center Parkway). Murfreesboro Transit buses do not run on a typical July 4 evening: the city’s regular service is weekdays from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., with limited Saturday service until 4:30 p.m. on three routes, so plan on driving, walking or a ride share. Fireworks at home: the rules in Murfreesboro
The Murfreesboro Police Department and the city’s fireworks guidelines set these rules inside the city limits:
When: only July 3, 4 and 5, from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. Shooting fireworks outside those dates and times is strictly prohibited.
Banned fireworks:
- Mortars with a tube, single or multiple, more than 1 1/2 inches across
- Reloadable fireworks
- Bottle rockets
Banned places:
- Private property without the owner’s permission
- Public property, including public streets
- Within 600 feet of a church, hospital or public school, or within 22 feet of a fireworks vendor
- Anywhere the firework’s path or falling debris could create a hazard
Police Chief Michael Bowen said the city’s rules “are more restrictive than those outside the corporate city limits,” so check which side of the line you live on. Officers enforce the city ordinance and state law, and violators may face enforcement action.
